Make Sense of It All

It’s Raw

How can you discover the truth if you're not actually looking at the facts? The facts are in the raw data before they are transformed via the ETL process on their way into a conventional data warehouse. Once data has been cleansed, transformed and aggregated, much of the original information content is lost. In this fast changing world, any a priori assumptions you make about what data is or isn't valuable is bound to come back and haunt you.

So of course it makes sense to keep all the data - but that just leads to other challenges. It's hard to store and manage so much data and harder still to analyze it. The standard solution to the latter is to analyze samples, but sampling introduces all sorts of additional work and uncertainty.

The bottom line is that if you aren't looking at all the data, you aren't working with the facts — and that's a recipe for failure. Any answers produced will have substantially reduced meaning and can actually be meaningless.

In 1010data, you can work directly with all the data in its raw and truest form. There is no aggregation. There is no data sampling. There are no hyper-cubes or star schemas. Because of the way 1010data enables access to data, you can work directly on trillions of records with unimaginable speed and ease.

  • Just the facts: who, what, where, when Transactions, messages, clicks, etc.
  • All the facts: good and bad Bad data also has information content
  • Any facts: internal, partner, third party Billions or trillions of records in the Cloud
  • Nothing but the facts: no data or relational modeling or other prerequisites Self-defining data, no hyper-cubes, star schemas
